Ancient Vikings and Norse explorers came down the Red River from the north to western Minnesota. This is the western shore of VINLAND. In the last 150 years since the arrival of the first settlers there have been many Viking age artifacts, mooring stones and numerous stories of remains of Viking ships and the Kensington Runestone (KRS) all found here.
